Journey
River Thames is the most important element in Greenhithe story. For this reason I've been looking for some inspiring colours, textures and things along its bank. I found man-made objects, some natural stones, shells, pieces of flint and wood. But they all look the same. River is very strong - it takes few years and everything turns into a muddy whole. It's difficult to recognize the objects. Suddenly my eye cought some bright flaky pieces, differing in colour.
Where did all these colours come from? That must be something fresh, constantly falling into the river Thames...
...far far away on the coast of China there lives a man. He is a painter. Every day he has to cover thousands of square metres in one colour. He is not allowed to choose or mix colours - that is decided from above - so he is unhappy because he can't express himself. He works for Port of Shanghai. Ships he paint travel around the world for many years and from time to time stop by in Port of London, leaving some colourful signs of their journeys on the banks of the river Thames. Then someone picks these signs wondering where did they come from? how many years do they count? What do they mean for a person they were created by?
